They are not good for anyone’s health. That’s why we invite you today to explore this new sugar-free strawberry shortcake.

Before we start with the recipe… Why is there anyone who would like to make a sugar-free cake?

Most of us have at least one relative or friend who has diabetes. Believe it or not, a large portion of the world’s population suffers from this disease. This is where sugar-free recipes like this one come in handy.

The importance of a sugar-free diet for diabetics

Diabetics need to carefully monitor their sugar intake. This is mainly due to their defective metabolism and an excess of glucose in the blood and urine due to insulin deficiency.

In general, there are two types of diabetes:

  • Type 1 diabetes. Here, the body does not produce insulin and breaks down ingested carbohydrates into blood sugar, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream to the cells of the body.
  • Type 2 diabetes. With this type, the body does not use the insulin it has correctly. This is called insulin resistance. First, the pancreas works hard to create extra insulin to compensate. However, it is not able to hold it up for a long time.
