It is normal to feel discouraged, but not to be pessimistic

Who has never felt discouraged? This is perfectly normal and one would even be able to say that  people are almost always subject to discouragement.  But feeling discouraged is different from being pessimistic.

Pessimism affects people in many ways, and it can make one’s life really complicated. The worst thing is that people are not always aware of it until it is too late. Pessimism is also one of those things that, once inside you, is the hardest to get rid of.

It is normal to feel discouraged, but not to be pessimistic

From normal to toxic

The truth is there is only one step from becoming discouraged to becoming pessimistic. And what happens then? What is the cause of pessimism?  Pessimism always arises when one prolongs the feeling of discouragement.

It’s not bad to feel discouraged. Everyone gets discouraged once in a while and it can help you muster the  strength  to face any life ahead so you are much better prepared.

The problem is that  sometimes it’s hard to bring yourself out of the state of discouragement.  This may be because your life circumstances do not make it easy, or because you simply can not see the light of hope in the midst of so much darknessā€¦

All you know is that you may be stuck in  pessimism.

You may think it’s not such a bad thing, but in reality it changes a lot of things within you. Want to know why?

Being pessimistic changes your view of the world

Pessimism changes your outlook on life and everything around you.  Suddenly everything seems dark. You may also feel that you are becoming a very pessimistic person. This vicious circle prevents you from finding your way out.

When you find yourself deep in pessimism, you can no longer sense opportunities, you can no longer feel experiences. The truth is that in these moments you are missing out on a lot of opportunities that pass your way.

This is all because of one thing: Fear.

It changes the way you listen

When you are in this mindset, everything you hear will be magnified by your ears. All you need to hear is a negative comment or that someone is answering you rudely and you will magnify this in a heavy sense of discomfort.

Phrases will pop up in your head at that moment, like “You are worthless,” “It should happen sooner or later,” “No one will help you,” “The world is against you.” These words will make you feel even more discouraged if possible, and they will haunt you in the pessimism that you have surrounded yourself with.

It changes the way you speak

Just as you begin to hear negative things, you will also change the way you see things, and you will begin to speak very differently than you are used to.

At such times  , you will say sad  things, words that are full of pain that reflect the absolute sense of pessimism  that you are surrounded by.

So what is the solution? Force positive words to come out because not everything is bad. You just walk with your eyes closed, so open them!

It affects your personal relationships

Eventually, all this pessimism will affect your personal relationships. You can not go out so much or the pessimism you are surrounded by will start to spread to your friends.

It makes you isolate yourself in ways that are definitely not good for you. The best advice is to try to talk to your friends about your problem,  try to have a good time and most of all do not cut yourself off from the outside world.

This will be your best ally against pessimism.

It endangers your future

By becoming discouraged , the feeling of pessimism and hopelessness will possibly paralyze you.  You will no longer be able to face life, you will let opportunities pass, and you will waste all that you could have given more of yourself to.

You will not want to do anything, nothing will excite you. All your success will be out of your hands and you will feel even worse because of it. So try to get out of it, fight for it!

But most importantly, ask your loved ones for help. They will help you see the world in a far more positive light.

Like we said before, everyone’s been through this before, but what’s important is that you get out of it. If you stay this way for a long time, you will become a toxic person. You will lose opportunities and friends and you will become gray and apathetic inside.

Learn to communicate your problem with other people, and to reveal what is inside you. The way you see things is not the only way to see things, and right now it is certainly not the most accurate.

Let other people open your eyes.  Fight the  mark  that consumes you.
