Get rid of your cold in 24 hours

The cold weather in winter almost always brings a bout of cold with it. Too many people are affected every year by the annoying disease that prevents them from performing their daily activities. It makes them feel so tired that they would rather stay in bed all day. When the weather is cold, our immune system weakens, making it harder for us to fight hostile bacteria and viruses, such as the flu, colds and coughs.

It is important to prepare the immune system for the cold weather, and to maintain good habits that can help the body be strong in the face of the problems that the changing seasons bring with them. Professor Ron Eccles from the Center for Common Cold at the University of Cardiff (UK), has come up with a routine to help combat cold symptoms caused by the cold weather, and you can even overcome them in just 24 hours.

Kl. 7:00 – take a hot shower

If you wake up to soreness in your joints and even feel an incipient headache due to the cold, a hot shower may be the best way to start the day. Hot water helps you relax and the steam cleans the sinuses so you avoid clogging.

Kl. 8:00 – a healthy breakfast

Soup

Proper nutrition is very important when it comes to curing colds. Breakfast is a very important meal – it can either make or break your day. You can drink natural orange juice and eat a cup of berries rich in antioxidants with some oatmeal for extra energy. Another great option is to start your day with vegetable soup or chicken soup.

Kl. 10:00 – steam treatment

Colds mean stuffy noses and extra mucus, which prevents us from breathing normally. When the sinuses are blocked, they become more easily inflamed. It is painful in itself, but can even lead to a throbbing headache. You should go to the doctor if you have pain in the sinuses, but you can help relieve the pain yourself by doing a steam treatment. Place your head over a bowl of boiling water and cover it with a towel for 5 minutes. This is ideal for cleansing the airways.

Around breakfast time – go for a walk

Although it seems like a challenge to go out in the cold, the fact is that a walk before lunch can help our mood and improve the immune system. Therefore, finally, do not think that you are harming your body when you go outside with a cold. A little walk can be very helpful (but of course you need to be properly dressed for it).

13:00 – breakfast time

Eat healthy. Skip the deep-fried food and choose grilled chicken with salad instead . The proteins in the chicken help produce immune cells and boost the immune system. At the same time, the vegetables in the salad are rich in antioxidants and nutrients, which are essential for fighting colds.

Kl. 15:00 – a healthy drink

Orange

For your afternoon snack, it is best to drink a hot herbal tea to dilute the mucus and help remove it from the body easily. You can also replace the tea with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice as it is rich in vitamin C and is good for the healing process.

Kl. 18:00 – Dinner

For dinner, it is super good to eat strong food such as curry or chilli con carne. These types of foods will help increase your body temperature and this will help in reducing the symptoms of colds. Other ingredients that you may consider incorporating into your dinner are ginger, garlic, or peppers, which are known for their antiviral and antibacterial properties, which help us fight the cold and cleanse the sinuses.

Kl. 20:00 – a relaxing bath

bath

At the end of the day, you will probably feel tired and have sore muscles due to the cold. To sleep well and relax your muscles, it is ideal to take a warm bath an hour or two before bedtime. You can add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the bath water, which will increase its effects against the cold symptoms.

Kl. 22:00 – time to relax and sleep for 8 hours

It is important to go to bed and get a good night’s sleep so you can quickly regain your strength. A good night’s sleep strengthens the immune system and helps fight cold symptoms. You should avoid drinking liquids such as coffee or alcohol as these can interfere with your sleep.
